TOP LINCOLNSHIRE PUB LEFT OUT OF CAMRA BEER GUIDE

Local drinkers are up in arms about the news that the White Hart at Ludford has been left out of the Camra Beer guide, many are suggesting that the Louth branch of the organisation be disbanded. CAD have only just heard of the blunder but it is known that Mick Sharpe the landlord of the pub is furious. We will keep you posted on any further developments.

We have recently moved our forum to a new server so there may be a few broken links but all should be sorted and working now.

Some very disturbing news has filtered down the grapevine this week, firstly another nail has been hammered into the pub coffin by proposals for licensing of pubs to be granted only if the magistrates deem that there is no negative effect on the local community - and wait for it, "in the respect of alcoholism and obesity." It now seems that the pub landlord is responsible for all the drunks and food junkies in the world.  I think it's fairly obvious now that this government wants rid of the traditional English pub.

More sillyness has been reported in Hull where after experiments using polycarbonate drinking vessels in some pubs and clubs in the city, they are trying to become glass free. At the moment it is optional but we all know where this is going. This started us wondering here at CAD, seeing as most town centre pubs allow their clientele to consume their drinks from bottles, does this mean that all bottles will have to be made of plastic too?  And what about the environment that this government are so concerned about?  All this extra plastic can't be a good idea.  What next? Have all the buildings windows walled up?

The Queens Head - Legbourne has found a new landlord and landlady and will be open soon, it would seem that they are committed to real ales so watch this space.

This weekend sees the annual Lincoln Beer Festival, it starts Thursday and boasts 70 beers and ciders.

Another annual event that starts this weekend is the Beer and Bangers Festival at the Wheatsheaf in Louth.  The event has proved very popular in the past and usually runs through the week.

We need your help!  To keep make this Pub Guide work we need your help trying out the pubs in this area.  You can join and help in several ways or just let us know of a pub worth a visit by going on the forum .

Many thanks for visiting and we hope you will return soon.
